Being a Marine myself I find owning his handgun is something of a religious experience. The 1911 is America’s handgun as it has served our nation non-stop since 1911. It was retired from general issue in 1985 when the M9 Beretta replaced it, however it has continued to be used by various units including the USMC since the M9’s adoption.
