It’s taken me a while to get to grips with all of this. And yeah, the sets and costumes are hardly spot on. But Laverne as Frank has started to make perfect sense to me. Yeah, maybe in the context of the story it is a bit weird, as Frank takes the form of a male human who dresses in drag. But from the perspective of Laverne, the person playing the character, it is perfect. Just think of how inspirational Frank must have been to her before she made the transition.
